Most frequent questions and answers
This all depends on what product you are going to plate and what thickness the gold is deposited, 2.5 microns is a substantial thickness and should last years if taken care of.
Is real gold used in gold plating? Real gold is combined with a different base metal to create gold-plated jewellery and watches. Although these items aren’t made of solid gold, the plating is. However, the gold layer must be at least 0.5 microns thick for an item to be designated as “gold plated.” .
At Xgold we have a Minimum plating lot charge of £250, any specialised finishing, restoration, special handling, or pretreatment would not be included in this.
Over time, gold plating on jewellery fades, but you don’t have to throw away the items you adore. You may easily get them replaced with xgold so you can continue wearing them for many years.
